Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, VIXEN!!!

Since Vixen is such a cult nail shade for Autumn/Winter I thought I'd feature it in a dupes post. It's well known that Vixen, £6.49 makes a good alternative for Chanel's wallet-busting Rouge Noir but as I was scanning the aisles of Boots a noticed a couple of little beauties that match the colour of Vixen exactly but give it a run for its money in the old budget stakes.

First up is Rimmel's I Love Lasting Finish Nail Polish in Black Cherries which, wait for it... comes in at a budget bezzie £2.99! I have to say, Rimmel are killing it with their polishes at the moment. Not only do they have bazillions of colours to choose from but the formula is one of my favourites. Want an opaque, streak-free finish in seconds? Rimmel's your best bet. Plus the brush? I LOVE a nice chunky brush to make application a doddle and I have to say Rimmel deliver.

Next up is Orly which I only discovered recently. (Look at it nestled next to Vixen... N'aww) I'm afraid its not easily available from Boots or my other drugstore haunts but you can get it online. The applicator is a little on the skinny side (as is the case with Revlon) but it glides on streak free and only needs a couple of coats to give that lovely intense browny-reddy-black combo that has made Vixen such a hit. Interestingly they also have a shade called Vixen which is strikingly similar to its Revlon counterpart although it may be a tad too red. But, for an identical match try the shade Naughty which you can buy here for £5 with a free gift. Or you could just pick up this month's Cosmopolitan magazine as it comes free (exclusively at Tesco) and for under £4 you can bag yourself a good read and a perfect little polish.

So for polished paws this Christmas why not give one of these dupes a whirl?
