TWIN TAKEOVER: Lip Saviours!

Today my sister takes over my blog:

Ok soo winter or summer, rain or shine my lips always need a bit of tlc. I suffer with chronically chapped lips so I need something with a bit of oomph to transform what usually resembles a rhinoceros' armpit into soft and kissable (teehee) mother-puckers. Below are my holy grail products to keep your lips looking velveteen this summer:

The number one spot obviously goes to Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream, I'm sure my sister has mentioned this products in previous posts, but I honestly don't think it can be raved about enough! It is a genuine miracle product and as well as metamorphosing my lips into something which can happily be seen in public, it is also a winner at soothing dry, burnt or irritated skin on my face, legs, arms, WHATEVER!! This is, however, particularly heavy duty, so I usually slap it on at night to soften my lips while I sleep and stick to lighter balms in the day.

On this note I thought I might invest in the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Protectant Stick as a more on-the-go solution. It is much easier to apply as it's in a lipstick-like formulation, which means I don't have to apply it with my finger. However, I have to say I was quite disappointed with this offering. It just doesn't have the industrial strength of the regular Eight Hour Cream, and I also found that, as I had to keep reapplying it, it also depleted quite quickly- overall a decent enough product but I won't be repurchasing.

My current FAVOURITE lip balm is the Nivea Essential Care Lip Balm with Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter. This instantly makes my lips feel soft and luscious and lasts for ages before I have to reapply! It's also a really bargainous price, so not to much damage to the old bank account. I'm gonna be stocking up on these to last me for the rest of the summer.

A classic favourite of mine, and one I keep going back to is Burts Bees Lip Balm. I have been using this stuff for years and years and there's always a hefty supply of it in my cupboards. There's quite a large range of flavours and I've tried them all in my time, but my all-time favourite is the original Beeswax flavour. It seems to be the most nourishing and balmy of them all, and whilst not as immediately satisfying as my Nivea Lip Balm seems to have a slightly longer lasting effect.

*Cheat Alert* Although this post is officially about lip balms and salves, I couldn't help but mention my holy grail product when attempting to model the perfect pout. Lush do THE BEST scrubs for de-flaking lips. I use it either to flaunt them au natural or as the perfect base to apply lipstick for a flawless finish. I always apply this if I'm trying to achieve especially smooth lips. And although they've got a few different flavours to choose from I absolutely LOVE the Popcorn one- It's almost edible!

Love Issy x
