Summer Fragrances

Summer's finally here and I for one could not be happier. But to add some sparkle to a summer's day I love to add a fresh, fruity fragrance. Lacoste Joy Of Pink fits the bill perfectly, perhaps pegging itself as my all-time favourite summer scent! The top note is grapefruit, which on its own I find quite bitter, but when mixed into a fruity cocktail combination of Peony, Curacao (which funnily enough is used in actual cocktails) musk and cedar this fragrance is the perfect perfume for a sunny day.

For evenings I like the seductive scent of Miss Dior Cherie Eau de Toilette (which I've just discovered differs decidedly from the Eau de Parfum version). Now I'm notoriously bad at describing scents but it has a floral, musky smell with a citrus-y undertone - that sounds bad but it smells soooo good! And having just checked the ingredients that make up this sexy little number I've found some very surprising results. Popcorn, Praline and Vanilla combined with Freesia, Lily-of-the-Valley and African Orange Flower makes for an exotic mix but it just works okay!?

Finally, Marc Jacobs Oh, Lola! is making a surprise appearance since to be honest, its not really my cup of tea. For me it's a little too sweet. However, on the few occasions where I have worn this, I have been bombarded with compliments (mainly from female friends) so I dunno, I guess the girl's like it. Looking at the top notes - Wild Strawberry, Raspberry and Pear - this fragrance seems right up my street. The bottom notes - Sandalwood, Tonka Bean and Vanilla should give the sweet top notes, the musky under-scent necessary to balance it. However, I feel that maybe the fragrance falls short somewhere in the middle with Magnolia, Peony and Cyclamen - the result? A Parma Violet-esque scent that's a little too heady for me. But my advice would be to try it since while I'm not such a keen tonka bean, others love it!

*Some honourable mentions... I feel I should really give a shout out to the Body Shop Body Mists and eau de toilettes. I have been loving the Coconut Body Mist which just smells like a holiday in a bottle whilst the Grapefruit Body Mist smells lovely a fresh (great for a hot summer's day). Finally I love the Satsuma Eau de Toilette which smells good enough to eat a packs a fruity punch.

So they're my fave summer scents. What scents are you loving this summer?

Love Elle
